Traders and Whalers

Your journey begins here.

Created by Nigel Ogle, who also created the world class Tawhiti Museum. This project, with the assistance of the South Taranaki District Council, has been 5 years in the planning and building. A first for New Zealand, this amazing themed environment is a truly unique attraction.

Using light and sound Traders and Whalers takes you on a journey through our past. It transports visitors to a time when our coastline witnessed piracy, abductions, massacres and espionage, dangerous explorations and bloody revenge.

EXPERIENCE the sights and sounds of a dark ride.
LEARN ABOUT our past, this land, its people and cultures.
UNDERSTAND through a new and original way of delivering history.
